Looking for a grill.

I've got a 2010 Ranger. Almost new I took a stone chip in the windshield. Since then I've heard a couple of others ping off.

My concern is that radiator hanging out there with very little for protection. Its only a matter of time.

I'm looking for an after market grill set that will protect the rad and look good. The more stone protection the better.

What say you?

Cheers!

Garage
My Father-in-law had a Ranger and had same issue. So I have a look then pull grill out and "Devcon" some plastic blocks on the back side and then mounted some stainless steel mesh, using the blocks for screw mounts. Turned out awesome for winter and summer.

Never thought of that. Great idea!

If I can't find an after market one, I will no doubt go that route.

Thanks.

Check out some of the other Ranger-oriented forums, too. This kind of mod is fairly common for lots of different types of vehicles.

My rad was getting dinged-up, too. I salvaged some expanded steel mesh from an industrial engine air filter which didn't look too bad. I just cut it to size to fit behind my factory grille openings. It's held in place with cable ties attached to cable-tie mounting tabs that have 2-sided foam tape. Hasn't come loose or rusted over the past couple of years. I think the steel I used is zinc plated. It looks kind of stock.

For the lower opening, mine is protected by my license plate, which got relocated when I made a light bar for the front bumper. But you could put some mesh in there, too, if you want.

Judging from the number and size of paint chips on my valence, I'm sure the mesh has saved a lot of damage to the AC condenser/rad.

Use window screen material. Just ziptie it in behind. It is invisible, cheap, easy to install and lasts for years. I used it on a Ram I used to have and it worked great. Was still in the truck when I sold it 6 years later.
