Angry Screeching in the Rear !!

Replaced the rear pads on the 2006 F150 XLT SuperCrew. Monroe Brake Pads from Canadian Tire. Brakes work fine, but only when I backup I get this annoying screeching, like metal to metal noise. Any ideas please, may take them back off and check if the slides are hittn the rotars , but im sure that they werent when i placed them on the first time.

Not the brakes!!

I think that the screachn is coming from the driveshaft in the center area of the truck . To the dealer I guess...

Nevermind that last idea, Ive narrowed it down to needing some new universal joints. This would also explain the vibrations while driving and the noises that come with this type of damage .

my rears do that in the morning.. or when there wet wile backing up. nothin to worry about. but if its the u joints you shout get a clunk when putting in drive from park or park to to back up or vibration on the highway, wile decell.

Well, I got the driveshaft off no problem. Now the caps are seized onto the u joint and they will not popp off. I was able to push them down through with the old vice and sockets method no problem, but now what... the caps seem to be seized on the joint. Guess ill try heating them up and twist them with vicecrips.

FINALLY ALL DONE THE UNIVERSAL JOINTS!!! Drive shaft is back on truck, and all is running great !! I ended up placing the stubborn caps in the vice and twist the entire drive shaft back and forth and the caps twisted out. Damn were they ever stuck (seized). No probs putting the new joints on, and I had purchased the new ones with grease fittings on them so I will grease these a few times this year. Thanks everyone for all youre help!!

Nope, sorry I forgot about posting the results of my repair job from my original noise and vibration problem. Noise and vibrations are now gone. Funny that at first I thought it was my brakes, so I changed them, they needed done anyways. Then I narrowed it down to the u joints, with the screeching while in reverse and the tinging noise while driving straight. Finally all is good and no more noises or vibration, truck feels 100% better now. Rides very nice.
