Honk When Remote Unlock

ok this may sound stupid but it's annoyed me to the point where I have to ask.....

when I press unlock on my remote, the driver's door unlocks. When I press unlock twice on my remote, all doors unlock and the horn beeps. I've searched all over to figure out how to diable the beep with no luck. One site suggested turning the ignition to on then off then within ten seconds, press the valet button three times but that won't work. Another site suggested pressing both the lock and unlock buttons on the remote at the same time but that didn't work either. I appreciate when it beeps when I press lock twice but not when unlocking.

Either I want to disable the beep or change the functionality so pressing unlock once unlocks all doors.

I don't want to go to the dealer about it but I will if I have no other choice

'04 Lariat - Appears to be oem remote - with remote start that appears to be oem (all in the same remote)

I believe that there was a manual that comes with it? I scrapped the OEM one right off the bat, but that manual should tell you the steps to do it (usually about 7). You could always just take it to the dealer, they should be able to take care of it no problem, and for cheap

That's odd. As far as I know, all the Ford remotes only honk if you press the lock button twice, not the unlock. Yours seems to be working backward! I can't think of any logical reason why you'd want it to honk when you unlock it. It makes sense to have it honk when you lock it, as you're walking away for confirmation.

Does this happen with all the key-fobs, or just one? Maybe the contacts are messed-up in the key-fob?

If Princess Auto were a real girl, I'd ask her to marry me.

It won't be with the fob.. The fob doesn't tell the vehicle to honk.
the vehicles decides when it needs/required to honk.

Sounds to me like programming on the vehicle is set to honk when unlock. instead of lock ..

upon further review, what I thought was a model number was actually the battery size lol

guess I'll go see the dealer

Well, my truck is odd that way too. I have the dealer installed remote start.

Press unlock once - lights flash, no honk
Press unlock twice - lights flash, one honk

Press lock once - lights flash, no honk
press lock twice - lights flash, one honk, second honk after a random interval

That second honk on the press lock twice thing has me scratching my head. Sometimes it'll honk twice in a row right away, and other times I'll be all the way up my driveway by the time it sounds. If anybody has a clue what the truck is doing, it would be appreciated.

Rouge remote

I was wondering when I read your post, so I tried my remote and my horn DOES NOT beep when the doors are unlocked. I;d hazard a guess there's a glitch in your fob. Ogre

they are supposed to honk once, to say "yep im locked" if they honk twice thats supposed to mean "problem, im not secure". i have an extended cab the back doors are suicides and if not shut totally it wont allow the front doors to close all the way, will honk twice (though always one right after the other, no interval)

Ok, so I finally figured out why the second honk on lock was random. It will honk once after pressing the lock button twice on the key fob, then it honk the second time, but only AFTER the lights in the cab have dimmed out. I'm not sure why that is though.

I want a 448AA
