Question stuck in 4x4

looking for some ideas so I don't make the dealership richer.I have a 2004 F350 diesel which I really enjoy and it tows my fifth wheel like it was a toy.The problem is this.I used it in 4x low this morning to move my trailer over some soft ground and now it won't come out of 4x.This is the second time it has happened. The last time I took it to the dealer to be repaired and it cost me $187 for about five minutes work.I checked the 30 amp fuse and it is fine.Any ideas?

Sometimes, it's as simple as backing up a bit, so a loaded up drivetrain can unload and release.

Are your hobs auto or manual ? unhook the trailer and back up in a straight line and it should unlock

Welcome to fordtough.ca Terry - I'd say start with the basics as well.

Unfortunately, if all else fails, you may not have much choice but to get some professional help with the issue.

Here's hoping for the simple fix - keep the updates coming, someone is bound to have the same problems, and threads like this can be a big help in troubleshooting.

I will agree with these guys, has happened to me 4 different times after using 4X low. I found it works real well if you drive up a slight hill, then back straight down. I had one occasion where it had to be taken to the dealer, but hopefully that won't happen for you!
