Gryphon has arrived

after a long wait (not because of Gryphon but USPS and Canada Post) it finally arrived today. I am just reading up on the instruction and see that there is quite a bit of optional changes one and adjust. it has been a difficult 1 hr so far in keeping myself back from hooking it up but I promised myself to read all instruction first. anyway I will keep reading. just want to share my excitement. any 4.6 owner with suggestion on what setting would yield the most out of performance or ??? thanks simon

Congrats on the new toy..Did you get any custom tunes for it and if so are they installed already?..Can't say what would be the best for the 4.6 as i have the 5.4 and a Gryphon..If you have the 3 tunes that it comes with, just run each one without adjustments and see how you like them..Most find level 2 (tow tune) to be better than level 1..level 3 is the perf tune and should be run with at least 91 octane in the tank...just play with each one before making any tweaks...plug it in and go play!!!!!!!

Have you installed the user cd on your computer yet ? and check for updates even tho it's new I'd still check for updates before you plug it into the truck.

What cd are you talking about Grant?..i never got one with mine...Does one come with the SCT products?

i ordered the 91 performance thinking it is not considered as a custom tune so it is as simple as asking them to put it in. the tune isnt in the programmer so I sent in my hex code and guess I have to wait now. I got the dvd but didn't update the software as I thought I read somewhere that few people were having trouble once updated and we are advised to hold off. I switched over to level 2 as soon as I got it in the truck and took it for a quick test drive and certainly noticed some differences but cant exactly tell you if it was the shifting or the power gain or both. I switched it back to stock and i am going to put 94octane in once tank is empty. we will see if I notice the difference to go from stock to 93 oct.
Question: do I have to shut down the truck (off) to mess with things like timing etc. I am pretty sure I have to but just looking for confirmation. thanks guys

i believe the truck has to be off to do any programming changes, just the ignition on.
