Horn issue

Hey guys, the horn on my 07 F150 for whatever reason seems to be sounding kinda quiet. Ever since the other night when i honk it, or hit the lock button on the fob it sounds about half as loud as it normally does. Any idea what could be causing that? Thanks.

Did you get water in the horn the last time you washed it? That happened to me, and I ended up taking off the horn and drilling a 1/8" drain hole in the plastic "trumpet" part. Haven't had a problem since.

Maybe a wasp nest???

It was pouring rain the other night and I went through a few big puddles. I suppose that could have had the same effect eh?

Yes, I don't know why they don't put a little drain hole in the horn trumpet? If water gets in there, it gets trapped due to it's spiral shape. And I'd guess if it stays in there long enough, it'll wreck the horn diaphragm or coil.

Yeah you'd think they would have devised a system to prevent that by now. I'll look into it, thanks man.

Most likely water in there. I hit the ditch last winter and snow got packed into everywhere including the horn and for a few days my horn sounded absolutely pathetic until it dried out.
