New used F150

Hello all.
I had an 98 F150 XLT 4x4 That got totaled at an intersection a week ago last Wednesday. In Ottawa. Very sad as I have owned it for 13 years.

I went so see a friend of mine who is a salesman at the local Ford dealer, he sold me the 98. And I checked the prices on new trucks. I find the costs eye watering. 30 K for a reg cab 4x4!!

But, they had just got in the night before a trade in, 2007 XL 5 speed standard 8 ft box, bare bones but with only 15,480 KM !!!! on it, owned buy and elderly gentleman bought and serviced at that dealer. This is a brand new 2007.

So I bought it on the spot for $10,688.66 all in and on the road and a full tank of gas. I picked it up on Saturday morning, and am very happy with it. I checked it out all over and under and it is mint. The oil on the dipstick is so clear, can hardly see it, and its not due for an oil change for another 2000 KM,

So the motor is a 4.2 V6. I an not really that familiar with these motors. I know the 98 foibles like exhaust manifolds cracking and brake rotor replacing issues, very difficult to get off.
Are there any issues I should be aware of on the 2007?
I have read that the motor is a bit of a dog, but I am not looking for uber power, just a good truck, like my dearly departed. I will miss the 4x4 though.

Thanks, Ernie.

Unintended acceleration

Am I ever glad I did not get a 5.4 motor they really seem to have alot of issues.

I have done some poking around on other sites and found a repair complaints web site about unintended acceleration of the Fords. Has anyone heard of this problem, it is mentioned on, carcomplaints.com

My truck is a 5 speed standard and I have hit the brake and gas at the same time by mistake twice, just me not moving my big foot over the brake pedal far enough. I am wondering if this is typical. I have done it several times in my sports car as well but there is really not alot of room at the pedals, thats my excuse anyway.

Has this happened to anyone else and or know anything about the issue?

Thank You Ernie

P.S. I did a search and nothing came up.

I think I might have kicked a hornets nest.

I checked some more on the other Ford sites and it seems to be driver issues.
Its just my big foot syndrome.

The later 5.4's don't have the same issues as the earlier 5.4's. I did a lot of research before i bought my '08 with the 5.4L. I really didn't want that dreaded spark plug issue! After late '07, they had the redesigned head with the one piece plug. Another way to tell is the the later 5.4's had brown top coil on plugs.
As for the issue you are takling about, in my opinion. Driver issue LOL!
