Drive Shaft Info.

Here is a link to an American based drive shaft manufacturing company, in regards to Ford drive shaft issues, for our US members to view.

http://www.driveshaftspecialist.com/truckhtml/ford.html

Here is a link to a Canadian based company that I have found that can manufacture an aluminum drive shaft ( numerous others cannot) .

http://www.driveproducts.com/products-service/products/

After much research in regards to my self destructing 4 X 2, SC, 5.4 L drive line, I thought that this info. could prove handy for some of you at some point.

Press on regardless!

A new Ford drive shaft for free? Hah...like that's ever going to happen...
They are going to warr. the second transmission tail piece housing though, even though the drive shaft IS the root cause of my drive line problems.

Ford Dealer says that it is within factory spec. at 30 thou. run out, my local mechanics and I say otherwise...

The drive shaft was also re-balanced last week, and additional 1 1/2 oz.'s of weight was required. ( we found out this week that this was done incorrectly as well, after removing all of the tape that was used to hold the weights in place while the epoxy glue was drying. Two of the weights are opposite to each other, which cancels them both out)

Press on regardless!

I never knew we had US members, that's a first, and I got a free driveshaft that only cost me a half hour of time at my local dealership.

Second transmission tail piece housing , and fourth rear seal now installed.

I'll be sending the drive shaft out to Drive Products in Mississauga on Friday, for inspection, or have them fab me up a replacement aluminum unit to my spec's (good to say 140 mph. and 400 - 600 Ft. Lb. torque).

I forgot to mention earlier that the rear diff. seal and housing have also been replaced about six months ago, so everything now points toward the drive shaft being faulty, even though Ford still says otherwise.

I need to do the rear pinion seal on my F 150, it's not leaking bad as it isn't leaving any spots on the driveway, unless it has already been replaced by the previous owner before i bought it back in the end of Feb. I need to get under there to get a better look to see how wet it is or isn't.

Dropped my drive shaft off at Drive Products today, they took one look at it when I first brought it in to their shop, and said that they had never seen an aluminum drive shaft with that much balance weight on it , in over thirty yrs. of business.

I'll be hearing back from them on Monday as to what the next step will be.

Press on regardless!
