Heat/cool issue fixed

Pretty much had this issue since new..Heat was either full cold or full hot..no in between..lived with it for 4.5 years..Got searching and found it to be the blend door actuator..62 bucks from Ford and i swapped it myself in a couple hours..All is good again..P.S. that back bolt is a PITA..I have small hands and it was a chore to come in from the glovebox to get a wrench on it..But still worthwhile fixing something yourself..No pics cause i was swearing too much

Are you talking about the use of the heat cold climate controls?
If i turn the heat down, i turn the dial to the middle, it will still be really hot, so i turn it 1/4 way threw the cold side it will still be hot, but then other times it will be cold like it should on the cold range, or a little cool when i turn the dial just a bit past the middle into the heat side!! Makes it hard to dial in!!! My '06 F 150 didn't do this, it was easy to dial it in, and never had this issue!

Not to bad to get into..rip the trim and radio out..unplug a few connections and then open the glove box..a 8mm socket..7 mm wrench and a pair of needle nose pliers to put the clips back on the trim..i used a flat screwdriver to reach in to unplug the connector..It's nice putting the dial to middle and not cook..lol..Might be different if you have the automatic air..I have the manual.

Sounds easy enough. Did a search after seeing your post. Didn't realize how common this issue is. LOL

they are common. glad you got 'er fixed! and be glad that it's not a 1/2 ton with dual automatic climate control. the one that always poops out is the driver's side - buried underneath the entire dash/plenum; the seats, carpet, vents, dash etc etc all comes out. tons of fun.

2003 GMC Sierra 3500 -- dually, 4x4, hasn't blown up yet and that's what i look for in a truck
