Transmision help 4.6 2005

Hey guys I have a 2005 ford 4.6 with 4 gear tranny when my trucks shifts into 4 th (overdrive) it acts as though nothing is there Rpms shoot through roof and it's like neutral no grinding no nothing just like you slapped it in neutral I am still driving the truck as when you turn od off fourth is elimanated However will still be fixing it if I need a new tranny I can do the work myself and there's a scrap yard here that warranties there transmissions I have 270 km on transmision. Is there a sensor that could be screwing up to cause this??
Thanks ahead
Zach

Broken snap ring in the od servo. Usually ends up in the valvebody blocking the od servo regulator valve. Quick valvebody drop will confirm.

Hey Robert thanks Ron burgandy I will probably have a look at this on Sunday as this is the first day I have off so when I pull the valve body off the snap ring if broken should be there ?

Most likely. It's the front servo. I would suggest taking it to a shop to be fixed though. The spring in the servo is a beast. And it's easy for the band to slip out of place
