Traded the truck in

Traded my truck away today. I needed out of the payment and fuel bill. Got a measly $8800 for it. Bought a 2011 escape fwd with a 4cyl. Actually an impressive ride. I think the little 4 banger would walk all over the 4.6. It was tougher to drive away from the truck than I thought it would be. But I am looking forward to 4cyl fuel economy. Got 8L/100km on my way home, the truck was getting around 18L/100km

Congrats on the new ride, hope that fuel bill decrease thing works out for you, post up some pics.

Personally, anyone who buys a full size pickup and expects single digit L/100km is not being realistic.

Try again! 8L/100km in a full size f150 is q.e.d. The right drive train and driving combination is the key. And that's only stock. A tuner and proper maintenance should make it even better.

You will save $12 - $15 for every 100klm. It will pay for itself.

I'd say 8L/100km is an exception, not a rule.

I'll agree on the right drivetrain and driving combo being key, but generally speaking, the majority of truck owners will never see single digits.

I stand by my statement that if economy is your goal, a truck is a bad idea.

I never bought the truck for fuel economy. Since I bought it, my wife and I had a son and 6 months ago we bought a house. Being a single income with a mortgage, we couldn't afford to keep the truck. Buying a truck that gets 'good' fuel economy would have cost me WAY more than i paid for the escape

I wasn't dissing you on the fuel mileage thing, a new kid and a new house is a handful that's for sure, being a single income, you gotta do what's right for the family first and cut costs where they can be cut.

Lots of life changes, congrats.
