Does my 2006 F150 FX4 have enough?

Hi, just curious.
I wonder if my F150 FX4 can trailer an automobile.
Has anyone been able to pull a car on a trailer with their F150?

Am asking as perhaps one day, after I pay off this monster & save a few bucks I would like to find me a '67 / '68 fastback Mustang and tow her home.
I have no issue in driving to the US to pick one up & am aware of the 72 hr before crossing rule for importing an auto.

Just wonder if I can do it with my 06 F150 FX4.

Anyone have any opinion?

Thanks in advance.

I have seen it done with a F-150 before, but was told by the person doing it he wished he had a bigger truck. The F-150 is a bit under weight to really be doing it. You would really have to watch the speed, and not let the trailer sway pulling you side to side. If you need any advise on the import of vehicles from the US to Canada, ask me as Its what I do every day for work.

Thanks for the offer.
Unless I fall into some extra $$s I won't be importing for a few more years.

Of course it can. If you ever want to see the specs go to the u-haul website.

yes no problem.....you can tow up to about 9300lbs. The car will weigh about 3200-3500 and I imagine the trailer it rides on should only weigh up to 3000 lbs.......this still leaves you nicely under your max. You just have to drive sensibly and don't think you need to pass everything on the road. The truck is certainly strong enough though! ......here's the specs on the 05's, your 06 will be the same.

Those specs are far to conservative to avoid any lawsuits I suppose. I wanted to rent just the 2 wheel tow dolly to tow my friends 94 mustang and they refused, said truck wouldn't take the weight. I told the guy..ummm yeah right why don't you go smoke some more crack cuz you obviously don't know chit about cars. Went to a different dealer and told em I was going to be towing a Geo metro, they ponied up the dolly right away.

Whaddya mean I dont pay my bills?? Whydya think I'm broke!!

Agreed. I towed my 94 Gt with a GMC Jimmy 4.3 rated for 5000 lbs, I think I was right at 5000 with the u-haul trailer, I told them it was a Honda Civic so they wouldn't stop me, but going by their ratings, you'll be very safe which is what Ray was asking. I was really to the wall with that Jimmy, but I only made exactly 3 trips with it, I wouldn't have done it on a regular basis. I also drove in second gear the whole time.
