Thinking of purchasing 2008 F-150 FX2 Sport, 4.6L Triton

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the forum and I'm thinking of purchasing 2008 F-150 SCREW FX2 Sport, 4.6L Triton. I love the truck and the only thing that makes me apprehensive about buying the truck is fuel consumption. I would be using this truck to get from home and to the office (110 KM per day). How is this engine fuel consumption wise? My family and some friends are saying I'm crazy to purchase this truck with the cost of fuel. Thanks in advance.

welcome John. the 4.6 should get you 18-20 on the highway. my 5.4 supercrew 4x4 is doing that now. My question is, Do you NEED a truck just for commuting? If not maybe something smaller and with better mileage might suffice. It sounds like a sweet truck that you're looking at tho....

Agree, that's a lot of kms each day especially with fuel prices the way they are these days.

You always will need a truck

I think you are looking at the best looking package on F-150 (IMHO), and yes trucks are great, You will be the most popular guy during moves
Fuel consumption will be the same or very close to explorer.
You will find tons of room in the cab

Check pricing all around and e-mail blackstock our affiliate for pricing also just to compare
There is some great deals on the trucks right now
So have fun shopping

The truck really does look sweet and I've wanted a truck for sometime now. I was looking at purchasing an SUV (Acura MDX, Lincoln MKX) but the monthly payments along with gas would simply be too much. Ford is currently offering a delivery allowance/rebate on the truck of $6,000.

Your weekly fuel bill will be around $120+- just for going to Work. If you are OK with that then go for it and enjoy the Truck.

I love my Truck but I am also lucky to only have a 25km per work daily comute. Once my lease is up I don't think I will get another Truck due to the operating cost.

I had a 98 F150 for 5 years. Bought an 07 F150 FX 2, 4.6L this past Oct. I was really pleased with my 98 4.6L and I lovvvvvvve my FX2. I have had very limited milage on the hwy, but I figure I am getting about 17 mpg. I am going to FLA in Jan for 3 months and expect to get closer to 20 mpg during the hwy trip.
Go for the FX you won't regret it.

You can always install a Hypertech econo or a Diablo I understand they work extremly well. Yonge-Steels Ford sells and installs with no negative warrenty problems, see Darrin in parts.
