A/T tires (winter)

Having a little trouble deciding which A/T tires to go with, I live in northern AB and want an a/t tire that can take on the snow and ice, but I dont want to get a snow specific tire, because I still use the truck somewhat in the summer. I have heard good things about the Wrangler DuraTrac but a friend of mine who has them isnt a fan on the road noise they produce on the highway. I have had BFGoodrich a/t's in the past, I dont know if they have improved but the last set I owned were not so hot on in the snow/ice. General Grabber AT2s seem to be getting decent reviews but seem to have a shorter life. Any first hand experience with any other a/t tires that take down the harsh canadian winters would be greatly appreciated

I have BFG All Terrain T/A KO's on my Mazda 4x2. Although they are rated for severe snow (mountain snowflake symbol), we are in agreement that they are not that great in snow and ice. I am going with a set of General Altimax Arctic for my Ranger FX4.

forgot to add that a friend of mine has Cooper Discoverer ST's and is very happy with them other than them being a little stiff in the cold, anyone else on here have experience with them?

I Like my Hankook AT-M's. Good sturdy tire, very quiet on the highway too. They were awesome in the ice and snow last year.

Good reviews from owners on Cooper Zeon LTZ and Nitto Terra Grapplers.

I can't really say i've had back luck from any a/t tire in winter..Any tire can have probs in winter..it comes down too driver imput and weather conditions. I have 4by if needed and if it won't get me thru, i probably shouldn't be on the road..
