it has ticked its last tick

my truck started ticking last oil change and has been getting a lil louder since, its not a rod ( thank god). took the valve cover off and WOW where did my cam follower go. #2 intake cam follower is ummmm wore right out .....the cam is scored so did the parts list today, new cam phasers, cam followers chain guides and pre tensioner's , chains and new cams woot...... was not lookin to doin this at all. but hey it is one way to get a set of cams.

the tick is so bad i don't want to drive my tuck, its that bad. a friend of mine asked if it could be a rod, i said no kuz if it was it would have vented the block buy now with the way i drive, and i know what a hurt rod sounds like. did a pormans scope and no noise was coming from the bottom end. the loud ticking is coming from the pass side head on # 1 cyl

truck is an 04 5.4 fx4

That sucks..at least you can fix it yourself..but it don't sound like alot of fun What did all the parts run ya?..if you don't mind me asking. The huge tires maybe stressing the motor a little?

the truck is geared with 4.88 the funny this its faster than a 2010 fx4 in the 1/4ml.

the cams are $732 usd
and the rest of the stuff is from the dealer at cost $640 and change, thats to do both sides and front cover.

you might want to dyno tune after to get the most out of them.
