F150 - OBD CODE 1288

2008 Ford 150 FX4; 5.4; 93,000 km
After pulling my boat trailer, my truck started running extremely rough, almost like it went into limp mode. It was only a 20 minute trip pulling the boat. I reved it up a couple of times and then it seemed to run normally. So far, it is running normally. I had a very similar occurance early in the year pulling my travel trailer when it was +32 and going into a head wind. In both cases, neither the Service Engine light or any lights came on. Ran diagnostics this time it and comes up with P1288 -1. Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor out of Range: 2. Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor out of Range Can anyone tell me exactly what this means? I talked to one mechanic and he says this is a common problem in Fords and he attributed it to a plugged catalytic converter.
The motor was not overheating nor was it labouring as the boat and trailer only weigh 2,000 pounds. I had the plugs replaced about three weeks ago.

Believe it or not, I had to replace the rad in June of this year, so it is clean as is the a/c condenser rad

you could check the cht sensor resistance to see if you have a bias sensor.
