Smoking coming from the front wheel...

Hi guys,

today i went shopping and arriving home, i saw a bunch of smoke coming from the front left wheel.. i had to put water, cause i had no idea what could have been and it stopped after a while... i have no idea why... i didn't see any oil coming out, the breaks look ok to me... i noticed one thing though is has you can see in the pictures that there is 2 rings (one on each wheel) that seem to float around and i really dont think it's normal..

could that be the smoking coming from? The truck is a 2009 F250 with only 20000 km on it..

can some of you knows what that ring is ?

Thanks

William!

That seal always breaks down...it's common. It's supposed to prevent crap from entering the axle tube.

As far as the brakes, you will have to remove the caliper and inspect. Sounds like seized slide pins.

2001 F350 CC SWB 6spd....currently getting a complete 'makeover'. Stay tuned.

I would check the manual.
if there is nothing in the maintance book about brake work.
or if you've keep your maintance up to date.

should be covered under warranty.

As for the picture you posted the ring is a seal to keep dirty and crap out of the axel and bearings, which you should get fixed. as for your caliper I'd take it back to the dealer as your truck is under warranty .

might have just seized up from not being used.

it looks pretty rusty in that pic.. possibly from sitting on gravel and having so much moisture sitting on the truck it's corroded up?

The truck is not even 2 years old, i had it sprayed with anti-rust last year and as you say it's still rust... If it continues like that in 3 years i will have to buy a new truck cause this one will be in ruin by the rust? Gees thank god they are made strong? And what's the difference between a truck that moves and one that doesn't???

thanks
