Question Intake

Anyone got any input on Banks or AFE intake systems? They all claim to improve mileage, throttle response and lower operating temps

I had a AFE on my '05 5.4. Def noticed some improvements in power and mileage.

I still have the stock one on my 6.0. They are good to 600hp and will out filter anything else available. Unless you are going over 600hp, save your money for other upgrades, IMO.

They will filter, but will they out flow?
Stocks air boxes and tubing usually have more bends kinks that cause turbulence and loss of flow.?!?!

Yes they outflow until like stated up top until around that 550hp mark, so that being said once again unless you are putting out that kind of juice save you money. Unless you are going for looks under the hood it heeds no benefit from upgrading. You will get a little louder intake sound out of an aftermarket one. If you want though I would go AFE over banks any day. You won't see any improvement in mileage or operating temps until you are reaching those higher HP numbers.

I mean the intake manifold(the elbow), not the air filter, I plan on keeping the stock air filter.

I've got the CFM elbow and didn't notice any difference myself. When you see the stock '05-'07 elbow, you would figure the aftermarket ones must make a difference. So, if you buy one, just think "it looks better than it feels!" I'm not saying you won't feel a difference. I just don't want to see you disappointed.
