EGR delete on my 2010

Did the EGR delete on my 2010 SD over the last 2 nights. One of my EGR coolers had a crack and i was sucking coolant cause when i got the intake horn off it was caked with a coolant/diesel soot mix. I got the BD kit from Extreme diesel. took in total about 7 hours with having to run out and get a 1-7/8 wrench to get the fan off. Overall not a hard job did it without any special tools just a mastercraft socket set and screw drivers. was a good beer project. when all was said and done she fired up nice and is running strong, with faster spooling and more power. if anyone is thinking of doing this try to plan it so the dealership installs it when they have the cab off its a very quick job then. and both coolers are accessible easily. I had to leave the lower cooler on (blocked off and coolant lines removed) for now till its in for service and they have the cab off.

It sure is nice "cleaning up" the newer style diesel motors to make them run and function better. Another nice way to get oil out of your intake system is doing the CCV (crankcase ventilation) mod. I put one in my 6.0L and what a difference it made in keeping the oil out of the intake and now the intercooler boots stay attached too.

I do not miss that one bit.... I feel for you. Biggest waist of tax payers money since the long gun registry.

Mitch R. Did you clean up and replace o'rings etc on the oil cooler at the same time or not? I see on u tube etc that they tend to do this. Necessary? Wheat

Should have asked how you determined the coolant loss (& I assume combustion) was EGR vs. head gasket?? I have white exhaust and lose coolant. Would not want to do EGR and oil cooler if head gaskets were the problem. Wheat
