Should I deal my 2010 F 250 V10 in 2015?

My 2010 F250, which I ordered to my specifications from Ford, is the last of the V10 Super Duties. It's always been babied, regularly serviced, never towed, with only 60,000 km. I love it. I want another Super Duty if I replace it, even though the new F150 would be more than adequate for my needs. I'm impressed by the rated torque and hp of the 2015 6.7 Super Duty. I'm prepared to put up with the added cost and maintenance of the diesel, even though I'll use only a fraction of its capabilities. Any thoughts?

For me, I'd go to a few dealers and see what they would give for your trade. I think you'll be surprised that it's probably a lot less than you think it's actually worth. My buddy traded his 2004 F350 fully loaded diesel in, and they gave him only two grand! It was worth an honest 8 to 10 g's...it needed exhaust manifold gaskets.

Have you thought about selling privately? You would do better, IMO. There are people that look for premium vehicles, which yours sounds like, and with the right advertising, you would do good. Then you can deal with cash on a new truck and get a better deal there too. Can you tell I'm against trading in? Dealers just want as much cash as they can get, so if you do the leg work, it's money in your pocket. Good luck.

Why do you want to trade it? Why do you want to keep it? Ask yourself these questions and see which one outweighs the other.

The 6.7 is a monster. 800+ ft lbs of torque is just plain mean. They get pretty darn good economy, and cold weather starting isn't an issue.

There was a bad run of them on job one - the exhaust valves cracked and sent pieces into the cylinders on bank two, but other that those first few trucks off the line it has been a very good engine and fuel system.

The only real issue has been the SCR (DEF) system, and even then problems are not incredibly common. The main issue was parts (pumps/heaters) being backordered at this time last year. That sourcing has since been sorted out.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat if I was looking for another oil burner.
