Look at an 2008 350

Hello all.

New to the forum and hopefully the super duty club. I am looking at a couple of FX4, 6.4 trucks. They are basically the same. 60000K on a Job 1, 110000K on a Job 3. Close to the same price. Any reason not to buy a Job1 truck?

Thanks in advance.

A little more info about the trucks would be helpful. Are the trucks coming from the oilfields? Also what is job1 and job3?

VMP and 5-Star tuned no more

Neither are oil field trucks. job numbers refer to build dates. The job 1 trucks were the first ones built and from what i have read they had a few more problems. i am curious if they should be avoided, but I am leaning to wards that truck because of the lower miles.

Have you researched the kind of fuel mileage most are getting with the 6.4L? If you will be doing a lot of Km's, you may not be thrilled with the fuel bill according to what I am reading from many owners (not all, but many)
And welcome also to Ford Tough!

Personally, I'd get a later 6.0 ('05-'07) before I got a 6.4 due to the 6.4's known crappy fuel economy. Plus the fact that the 6.4 was only available for 3 years, so parts and stuff will be more expensive, down the road.

Or, if possible wait till there is used '11 trucks. I hear only good things so far with the new platform Super Duties.

The Project - '90 Ford Bronco 4x4

^^^ x2

Thats what I did. When I bought my '07 , I had a choice of the '07 that I bought or an '08 that was $1000 cheaper due to a couple of minor opton differences.
After what I have read and heard from MOST , not all 08-10 owners, I'm glad I did. I would have went broke driving the '08. Also I wanted nothing to do with DPF filters.

Thanks for the help. I went with the low k truck. Should have it by the end of the week. Now I just have to find some decent rims and tires.

I know the fule ,milage is not a strong point but I can live with that. Modding does seem to help this engine breath. From what I have read this engine is supposed to be a monster.

Thanks again, i will let you all know if I made a bad choice.

Let us know if you made a good choice too! If your not piling on the Km's then mileage is no big issue. Also there are some custom tunes and DPF delete kits available that help huge. Enjoy the truck!

So far I have had the truck for roughly 3 months. Out on and 12,000k. been really good, all around driving been getting 15L/100k according to the gauge. last hand calc was 14.4/100k. I am now looking at getting a tune and decent tires.
