2007 f-250 No Heat issue

Hi all, new to forum and looking for some help with no heat on a 2007 F-250 King Ranch 6.0L.

The issue started before christmas with intermittent no heat in the cab, only at low idle parked. Replaced the thermostat, topped up the coolant and removed the coolant shut off valve for a/c, but it seems almost like i have a blend door issue. Issue only was happening at idle at first but now it is happening driving as well. Air temp warms up to normal, then will start to blow cold air (almost like turning a/c on or turning temp control to cold) but will then go back to hot air. I have the auto temp system, vacuum does not seem to the problem...with no vacuum the system defults to defrost and 4x4 does not engage...this does not happen.
any trouble shooting help would be appriciated
thanks in advance
Al

when up to operating temp both hoses should be hot,if 1 hot/other cool could have plugged core,if both cool could have blocked orifice in heater hose or stuck t/stat.

a moments silence for the shelbyx,i hope her new owner enjoys as much.

Might be time to look into flushing your cooling system. Common issue with the 6.0 is the sand left in the coolant passages. So a flush and an added filter is a good idea. If your heater core is plugged you may have an issue with the egr or the oil cooler plugging (big bucks). I'll post some good links for you to look at below. I eliminated my egr system already and this winter I'll be replacing my oil cooler with the upgraded one from Ford and I will also be doing the flush and installing a coolant filter as I have puking (coolant) issues. And I suppose I'll replace head gaskets and add the ARP head studs.

Man, now that I re-read this, it sounds like a lot. But it's still worth it as I plan on keeping this truck a loooong time!

Good luck and be sure to keep us posted.
