Blower motor dead?

The blower motor in my Dads 96 Explorer quit on him today. We checked the fuses and they are all good, check all wire conections and they are all good. Could this be the resistor? I tjhought when the resistor failed it defaults to max speed only. We are going to change the resistor tomorrow anyway but just thought I would ask.

I even pulled the A/C relay from mine (95) to see if that would shut the blower off but it kept going.

depends on where on the resistor board that it breaks.
On my old mans '01 it didn't work on level 2 and 3. but 1 and 4 worked.

I re-soldered all the resistors. Good to go till he traded the truck in 2 yrs later.

Could be the blower motor itself.

I'd check the resistor first I just replaced 1 on a 2000 F250 as the fan only worked on low and nothing else, sure as shit it was rusted to pieces, so tossed a new 1 in and baaammm the fan worked on all speeds. But then we also found the thermostat was stuck open so we also replaced that, then 7 days later he sold the truck.

why not "bench test"the blower motor by giving it power and ground first.

a moments silence for the shelbyx,i hope her new owner enjoys as much.
