Choking on a cat...

Well, it was bound to happen. My 2002 ford escape had a misfiring coil which the OBD never picked up "/$*&?/$....and what had to happen, happened!

The front cat was plugged, so was the central (downstream of the Y-pipe). Upon inspection, 2 studs had broken off the rear manifold and it had warped.

So, I needed to replace 2 manifolds/cats at about $1000/each, 1 cat $300, 6 coils ($100/ea) and 6 plugs. The mechanic estimated the total job cost at $5000....the truck isn't worth that much.

So, I hit the eBay world.

Got my manifold/cats from Catconauto $650 for BOTH front and back, including gaskets and hardware
Central cat for $106 from Muffler express, including gaskets and hardware
Goty the ignition coils from alanis deals $75 for 6...not each...for all 6!!!

They all fit perfectly, the mechanic was truly impressed. Labour, plugs and misc. parts $900.

I'll let you do the math....yeah, less than $2000! THANK GOD FOR EBAY !!! Hope my journey will help someone save a few bucks too.

Good job!

If Princess Auto were a real girl, I'd ask her to marry me.
