Need Shocks!

Hi All,

Well after getting the brake work done yesterday I found out I need 4 new shocks. I made some calls and found out that the shocks on my truck are most likely the originals.

Where is a good place to get shocks at a good price? I dont mind getting good shocks just can't afford to buy top of the line right now.

What make of shocks would be good for a daily driver that does very little heavy hauling and no towing?

Thanks,

Paul.

Whaddya mean I dont pay my bills?? Whydya think I'm broke!!

Paul, I don't now too much about shocks. But go to Handford Firestone on Wharncliffe(near Baseline) and talk to Jeremy or Chris, they may be able to give you a decent price on them. You can mention that you know Tim Burgess for the Ford truck club, but it probably won't make a difference in price. They generally carry Monroe shocks I beleive, I have dealt with these guys for years and they take their time and do it right.

Paul, do you ever get into Michigan at all or know anybody that does? When I was redoing the suspension on my truck, I ended up getting 1.5" coil spacers and installed them. I did not like them so I went with a lift coil instead. I also bought brand new Monroe Reflex Shocks and took them off after 100 miles since I had to go for a longer shock for the lift coil. The shocks's have he undercoating material on them, but they will clean right up.

I have the front shocks + coil spacer's if you want them, I will give you a good price.

Thanks but I don't know anyone who goes to MI and it would cost more in gas than I would probably save. I'll hold off on getting new ones until I figure out this damn squeal issue.

Thanks Tim, I'm going to hold off on getting them just yet. After getting the rear drums and shoes replaced I still have that damn squeal. Sounds like its from the front end but the Speedy guy said the front brakes were ok.

I think I'll take it somewhere else and have them check the front brakes again. I still think its that feeler thing that screeches when the pads are getting worn.

Well the front shocks and lift spacers are in my garage waiting when you need them. I will take $50.00 total for the 2 shocks + lift spacers.

SmokeFan, I am 5 minutes west of I-94, about 25-30 minutes south of Port Huron so I am near by.... It would be no problem what soever.

Wow, thats awesome Mi, Smoke...I'l have to wait till next month anyway since I need to put some cash aside for the gasket repairs I want done so I'll let you know well in advance. Some questions though, what are the lifters for and do I need them? Is that $50 US or Cdn, these days its about the same so either is fine with me.

Thanks.
