tiretrends.ca

Besides that, I tend to just buy off tirerack and ship it to the border and pick it up. the other option is get it shipped from the US to your door and hope they dont use UPS. If they do, buy a bottle of KY jelly for when the UPS guy gets there and charges you the brokerage fees.

if you use Discount tire its 60$ a tire shipping UPS all duty/tax already paid.
its the only time i get anything shipped UPS. i have bought 20" tires and 16" winter tires for hundreds cheaper then local using them. I will be getting 22" tires from them over winter.

Really? Its the Internet take it easy.

In early 2010, I bought my General Altimax Arctic tires (245/75-16) from Talontire.com who are based in Quebec. A set of four tires was $664 at my door.

Another dealer is 1010tires.com who are based in BC.

A dealer in the US who has recently been popular with Canadians is JC Whitney:

Another dealer is in Quebec called pmctire.com No experience with these guys though.

Last time I ordered from tirerack, they did all the customs paperwork up front, shipped UPS and all was well - no surprise bill from UPS.

As long as the retailer does the paperwork, you should be OK, but agreed that if they are too lazy and rely on UPS to broker it, definitely time to break out the anal lube.

Never tried tiretrends.ca, but I have done the tirerack thing two years ago when I got a set for my '04.

Could be they've changed their shipping protocol though, so don't quote me on that.

If memory serves, much like BlairTruck mentioned $60 per tire shipping from Discount Tire, tirerack ran about $50 per tire, and I still came out ahead.

I've shipped to the border and picked them up a few times using tirerack.com and worked out great and saved a lot of $'s

Friends have shipped direct to Canada with tirerack and everything was smooth and they didn't get any surprises on the bill.

I have used TireRack.com and had them shipped to the border and just went across and picked them up (great if you are near a border).

Tires for my son's '02 Protege (195/55R16) were $157 - $183 around here, but I got 2 for $150 plus $25 shipping from TireRack.
