Interchanging Bumpers
1SILVER06F150 and myself..
His: 06 Supercab 6.5' box 4.6 2wd..
Mine: 05 Supercrew 5.5' box 5.4 4wd
Goal:
To swap bumpers.. the middle section.. (metal section)
Above the lower valance (shin spoiler)
And the rear bumper
After discovering how to take the front bumpers off..
4 main bolts.
3 bolts holding the plastic section (peice inbetween grille and middle metal section)
1 bolt holding the hood release mechanism in place..
and found out it was wise to take the 2 bolts (1 for each) for the grille/hood stops..
The front bumper wasn't too bad to remove.
Result:
Not all bumpers are the same... Esspecially if they look the same..
We found out the tow hook holes on ours were positioned differently.
The chin spoilers were then not inter-swappable.. And I had tow hooks and he doesn't..
Sorry we were pretty dissappointed we forgot to take more pics of what did not line up..

Yeah,kinda sucks.But hey,it was fun to wrench away,and hang out.LOL.
I'm guessing that all '04 to '05 front bumpers are interchangable with the chin spoilers due to the same design,and the '06 to current are interchangable due to their same design.
2004/2005 front bumper,minus the fog lamps,but they are the same,just with fog lamps.
2006/2008 front bumper,minus fog lamps,but they are the same aswell.
As you can see,minor changes in design,the bumpers are interchangable but only if you keep the proper chin spoiler to the right grouped years.

2008 F150 - You can tell in the middle opening.. 04 & 05 don't have it out front.. but inbehind.. where the 06+ has the opening smaller..
Yea I'm pretty confident that the bumpers would swap.. just the chin spoilers would have to stay with bumper..
