Time for an Audio Upgrade....2013 FX4..

Well I just miss the audio system I had in my 08 Lariat so it's time to get some jump in my step again.
The stock system is OK for most I guess but I'm spoiled and need to feel more power and base.
Going to keep the stock head unit even though I know it may have some limitations on the over all sound but I like it's interface.

Picked up a JL Audio CleanSweep and an Alpine PDX-F4 4/3/2 Amp.
Using Hertz hi energy 51/4" components and tweeters in the front and energy 5 x 7 coax in the rears which I was running in my 08 Lariat.
Going to run two 8 inch Bazooka subs. 1st is 250watt amplified with the other as a slave seeing as I’m getting them for a steal.

Should have some time to get this all installed over the long weekend with help from a pal who knows a thing or two about car Audio.

Instal Pic's to follow....

should sound pretty good.
I would have got a 2nd amp and slim 10" or 12" sub and made a box to fit under the seat..
they sound so much better then the 8" bazooka.. now granted you do have 2 of them, that should help out.

A 12 inch sub would be better than a pair of 8 inch ones.

Yeah I been looking at some sub option but for 80 dollars I could not pass up on 2 Bazooka tubs. Will see how this set up sounds then go from there.

Got a bit of a head start today and actually stepped up the instal by adding Sound Deadening on all 4 doors and behind rear seat.
Also wired and installed door speakers.

Next up is getting the wires run and sorted to amp and cleansweep.

Well countless hours into this we got some good news.
We actually hard wired everything the system still needs some fine turning but lots of potential that for sure. The head unit and stock sub are giving us some limitation issues. Not able to find a way of to bypass the stock amp otherwise I’m sure there would be even better sound quality. We got everything working well with the head unit and retained all functions.
With the two Bazooka subs the system is decent sounding. Now once we tossed in a sub box with 2 - 10” subs that I had kicking around and ran it as a slave from the Bazooka sub there was a big difference in sound quality. I have to say the 2 Bazooka subs are just not going to cut it for me but was worth a shot for 80 dollars to try it.
For now I'm going to run the 2 ten inch subs as a slave and order up a seat lift kit to get things ready for a proper box with separate amp in the future.
Here area few pics..

Those fosgate subs will def beat the crap out of those 8s.

What's the depth of them? Can you build a nice under seat sub box?

I've got a thread kicking around of a sub box I built for a 12". But it was a slim sub. Sounded sweet! Was for a Scab tho.

Nice setup! similar to mine. If I were to do it again, the stock head unit would be gone. Definitely the biggest limitation of my system. I made a custom box for my pioneer flat 10". Best sounding little sub I have ever owned. Hits lows I have never thought possible out of the tiny thing.
