Didnt get mine installed yet but its a Uniden Pro505XL Most of my intended usage will be for offroading and camping.

Layinhp raises a good point. As I understand, using the hand mic gets you the same ticket as using a cellphone. You can risk it and use it, invest in bluetooth or just use it while stopped. I normally just listen for entertainment anyway.

Its still legal to use right now (cb) but not in a few more years..... ive heard they gave the trucking assiciation 5yrs after the date the current law is in effect to get something else in place... which sucks.... its good entertainment when traveling through the cities some colourful language on there hahaha

Sorry, I mispoke - you're right, it's still legal for now while the truckers sort out the change to a hands free system. I did hear some chat on other forums saying that the extension only applies to truckers and that personal vehicles can get the distracted driving ticket if you use the hand mic. I don't know if that's actually true because I haven't taken the time to look into it.

There's definitely some colourful language on there! It can be pretty funny, especially when one driver does something to upset another driver after a long day.
