I did and noticed a huge difference. I put Kenwoods in the front and Pioneers in the rear

I just replaced the front speakers with what a difference.

I was going to do the back speakers but the panel in the back door of the ranger is a pain in the ass to remove. So I still have the stock speakers in the back.

There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

I replaced my front speakers with energy 6.5" components and mounted the tweeters up higher in the door where the factory ones would be, and put in a set of exile 6X8's in the back and it sounds really good.

Replaced the stockers with pioneers, four of em, night and day differance. The stock deck/CD changer was okay, the new one is better(more power and features) but not as big of a change as the speakers were. Don't know why the factorys stick with such bad speakers but change them, you'll like it.

Well, I got tired of tape holding the face plate on the old Sony tape deck I had so I redid the entire stereo in my Ranger this spring (well, let the guys at Beamrider Abby do it ). Pioneer DEH-P500UB deck, Infinity Kappa 6x8s, Orion West Coast Custom 10" 400w sub in a Bassworx 10" ported box powered by my trusty ol' Alpine V12 300w amp. Those old school V12s are pretty hard to beat. Not the craziest of systems, but for what it does it does it well - also works well as a camp stereo! It was a mix-and-match of gear but the Infinities I got out of the US for $120 for all 4, the sub for dirt cheap in Calgary, the box and deck at Beamriders, and the amp I bought new like 8 or 10 years ago. It was running a set of 12" Mmats before, but couldn`t quite keep up so we finally broke down and got 700w JBL amp for those (bro`s BMW).

I helped a buddy do the same speaker swap in an '07 Ranger and I swore I'd never do it again. LR

I haven't really looked into it but does anyone have instructions on how to get to the speakers in F150s?

Biggest question is.......what system did your truck already have?.....then how much of a difference did it make!
I ordered the top of the line audiofile with 9 speakers and sub. It sounds good enough and loud enough that it would be hard to justify spending more money on changing the speakers.......but certainly open to suggestions!
If your truck only has basic system from factory, then yeah, I suspect speaker upgrades what make a significant difference.

The Infinities were night and day for clarity vs stock speakers (one was blown), the sub's always a nice touch, and the Sony tape deck it came with sucked donkey nuts compared to the Pioneer head unit - no more smacking the deck to make it work.

I had the stock tape deck in my '90 Ranger with the optional factory "premium" speakers and I was actually surprised at how good it sounded. I swapped the deck out for a cheapy JVC CD deck and left the speakers cause they sounded fine (powered 6" rear speakers I think they were). LR

i did a complete system up grade, not competion grade but it sounds great.

4x JL Audio TR570-CXi Coaxials
Clarion DXZ585USB Head unit
Got my hands on a factory Audiophile sub made the harnesses and wired it in.

i had put in the door speakers before the head unit and sub and they sounded ok, but when i did the head unit and was getting 53wx4 from the head unit it brought those speakers to life. if your not interested in putting amps and subs and lots of wiring this is a great upgrade path, although now i find myself looking at a custom dual 10" sub box for my truck and a 500w amp, damn upgrades
