Aftermarket Nav & Bluetooth

Okay, looking for some feedback (good and bad) on everyone's experiences with aftermarket navigation and/or bluetooth capable head units.

I was initially looking at a Pioneer unit, most likely the AVIC-X710BT or new AVIC-X920BT however the more I look at them it appears they do not use Garmin mapping.

I am now considering something from the Kenwood line, either a DNX7140 or DNX9140.

I am looking for somewith with decent, updateable navigation and reliable, built-in bluetooth. I will be on the road a fair bit for work and would like a unit that will give me some decent bluetooth functionality in terms of displaying the incoming call on the screen, voice activation, etc. A navigation function with voice control (inputting destination, searching for Tim Horton's) would be a real plus.

Since Ford doesn't offer the Ranger with Sync, what aftermarket unit am I looking at? And further, can anyone recommend a reputable shop in the Brantford/Hamilton/Burlington/Niagara area to handle the install?

I appreciate any and all input.

If Bluetooth functionality is the most critical, you cannot beat the Parrot products. They work flawlessly passing the voice dialing through from the phone, sound quality is great. I have had the 3100 for about 4 years now with 0 issues.

I am using the Alpine W205 headunit with the docked Blackbird for nav and built in Bluetooth. It is junk. The head unit itself is excellent, it's the Blackbird that is a POS. I just had it replaced again today for the 3rd time in less than 2 years. At least Alpine's warranty policies are great. They are still replacing it almost a year out of warranty.

You can not go wrong with Kenwood. I had them in my Truck and Mustang and loved them

I'm going to have the DNX9140 installed on Wednesday. Couldn't beat the price!

A friend of mine had one installed in his C6. Great unit.

Scott had some work done by Radioactive in Burlington; I checked out their website and dropped in yesterday. It's last year's model that they are trying to clear out so I got a sweet deal. They've got 3 models on special, of course I chose the most expensive :-)

They say a picture is worth a thousand words; I think these will speak for themselves:

BEFORE

AFTER

The only major downside(s) I've discovered so far is that the navigation display is cancelled during a phone call (causing you to miss turns if you're not careful) and also that this model doesn't offer full voice commands for the phone, yet the cheaper model does - go figure!

The screen looks nice and clear and easy to read. Very slick.

If Princess Auto were a real girl, I'd ask her to marry me.
