new project

Ok, I need a new project. I want to rebuild my 6.0l into a performance monster. I do not however want to have my truck laid up for the year(s) it may take to do this. Is there a place online or otherwise i can pick up an engine/block to begin this project.

I know i can buy a rebuilt engine for a ton of cash and then mod that the way i want but i'm looking for a nice long term project with a minimal outlay of cash initially.

Any schmo can buy an engine i want to build mine. Any thoughts appreciated.

My only other idea is to lay up the truck and get a beater to tool around in while i get this project off the ground. Don't really want to do that though.

Sometimes cheaper to buy the whole truck. Government auctions are a great place to look. Too bad you didn't post this a few months ago...Strictly Diesel had a complete motor with a bunch of work done to it...for $5000! Keep us posted on the project. 6.0's are awesome when they're done right. I put 6-7 g's into mine...more for reliability though...the extra power is sweet too.

6.0 powered superdutys come cheap in ontario, they are a hard sell as everybody seems to get killed on repair bills. 6.0 powered 04/05 superduty commercial trucks usually go cheap at auction here. sometimes even as a cab/chassis with service bodies already removed. lots out there down as low as $1500 for a running truck needing work.

take your time and find a deal on an oilfield truck fleet somebody is selling off.

personally I wouldn't touch a 6.0/VT365, but a 7.3 PSD is my favorite.

good luck in your project quest

Dump the 6.0L idea. Do a 5.9L.
