Temporary loss of power

Last night I was driving the 350 and after going through a small town doing 50k/hr I tried to accelerate to 100k/hr and the truck had no power. I was in 5th gear (truck usually does fine from this speed in 5th) so I tried downshifting and that didn't help. This went on for about a min. or 2. Then I slowed down to take a turn and go up a big hill and all of a sudden it was all good the rest of the trip. There was no smoke while this was happening and I had the gas peddle to the floor with NO acceleration. The engine also sounded different, like it was muted or something?.?.?

Any suggestiond as to what I should check? How much would it be for Ford to put it on a computer or whatever they do and tell me whats wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Air filter is good (dirty but not bad) fuel filter looks good (again dirty but not bad) all turbo pipes are tight, drained fuel filter housing and had to do this twice before fuel came out clear. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Get your codes pulled, that'll help narrow it down a bit more. Without codes we'll just be shootin in the dark guessing

Had this similar problem with the old dually 03 7.3L over and over got worse every time it happened ended up with all new injectors after two trips to the dealer before the problem was finally fixed(then the wheel fell off....lol) It would go away for a while then come back a few days later sometimes a week until it just would not go away.

Thanks for the replies.

Tried to get it to repeat the problem and nothing. I assume I have to go to a dealer for the codes? How much would this cost approxomatly?

Every time we went to see the dealer they could not figure out or mimic the problem until we had to float it back to the dealer TWICE while it was doing it. We put allot of miles on our trucks though several thousands of km's every month, from the first time it did it to when it was finally fixed took about three months of messing around back and forth to the shop and getting stranded. Sorry don't know what it cost to pull codes I don't see the bill for the work truck

If it set a code hard code it'd be stored. I'm not sure how much it costs from the dealer, but if you know anyone with superchips programmer or the like they can pull the codes. Or one of the best things is auto enginuity which is a program you install on your laptop and get pull codes or data log engine parameters

No laptop here, and I don't know anyone with a superchips programer. How much do those run? Would be handy to have since I like to do my own work. I'm gonna call the local Ford dealer tomorrow and see how much it would cost for them to pull the codes for me.

Would one of those obd code readers from crappy tire work? A good friend of mine wants to go halfers on one of those with me.

I have a 6.0 and had a similar problem. Mine turned out to be injectors.
