lack of power

I need help. I'm at my wit's end with my 2005 F150 5.4 supercrew 4x4 and if I could I'd get rid of it yesterday. I bought it new, it currently has 38,000Km, and the last year it has run like crap. It is totally sucking the hind tit accelerating, I won't even attempt to pass anyone on the highway or try to beat someone if a parked car or something is in my lane. I couldn't beat a chevy aveo if we were to race, seriously. And there is always a delay from stepping on the gas pedal to actually accelerating, like a hesitation. From a stop, there is a real lull in the acceleration around 30 Km, and if the engine isn't warmed up for quite a while( even in summer) the problem is magnified. It's like the truck labours and struggles to push itself. When I bought it I was just blown away by the power and how when I hit the gas the truck would go and go fast and powerfully, now I literally get mad everytime I drive it. I changed the plugs, air filter, put a bottle of that fuel system treatment in,even got new tires ...nothing is helping. I took it to the dealer numerous times before my warranty expired and they said nothing is wrong, the computer doesn't show anything, and that's how they perform. I said that it didn't drive like that new so why does it do it now? And instead of reading a computer why not do some actual mechanical troubleshooting. They also mentioned possible transmission issues but never even looked at it. I called Ford and complained and they said that the dealership says there is no problem so case closed, I argued that the problem is the fact they can't figure out the problem....I basically got the old " to bad, so sad". I am absolutely the furthest thing from a automotive mechanic, but if anyone has any tips or possible solutions PLEASE throw them at me. I'd really love it if someone out there that is knowledgable and lives in Winnipeg would just go for a drive with me and see what they think, so if you live in winnipeg and would be willing to go for a quick drive to give me an opinion it would be greatly appreciated. I think I got a total lemon, but I'm stuck with the truck now, maybe someone can help me solve the mystery and get my powerful truck back. I'm pretty much at the point with all the problems I've had with this truck that I will never buy a ford vehicle ever again, and that says something since every vehicle I've ever owned has been a Ford. Thanks.

Sorry for your frusterations Claw.

It could be that your torque convertor has 'locked'. That would be my first guess?

I suggest taking it into a good local shop (not necessarily a tranny shop) and having them diagnose it. Cost you a few bucks, yes.....but you'll find out what the fault is. Then take that diagnosis back to the dealership and make them treat it as warranty.

Good luck.

Definitely agree, i know the last thing you want to hear is spend money, but spend 1 or 2 bills now, and then like calm said, bring it up with the dealership.

Your out of the the 3 year warranty, but all your driveline components are good until 5. And it sounds like this is a problem around there, and worst case it's not...well we all have to spend a little money sometime. Don't give up though.. i know how you feel.

And did you say 38,000 km? You must not drive at all!

Thanks for the replies so far. No check engine light. The truck only has a 3 year warranty, I thought there was a 5 year powertrain warranty but no mention of it anywhere in the manuals, SOL for any warranty coverage. I live in North Kildonan off of Henderson Hwy and work by the airport, but I would happily drive to someone's neighborhood if they are willing to help in any way. Yes only 38,000 Km's, and most of it is hunting and fishing trips, without them I wouldn't even have half the mileage( thank god with my frustration and what the price of gas was there for a while). I personally have never checked ignition coils nor did the dealership, I really have no clue how a vehicle works or what these parts even look like, may sound laim but I wasn't brought up in a car fixing environment, I've never even changed oil. I'll happily spend the money to fix the problem if it will in fact get fixed. Shelbyx1 ; the truck shifts poorly around 30-40 km's and otherwise is a little worse than new but not brutal,it seems to rev high for quite a while until it warms up which takes a long time and will eventually idle at around 500 RPM, I would personally say it runs rougher and louder than before, as for the wide open throttle question I really can't answer it because of my lack of knowledge I really don't understand the question( sorry but I'm just not a car fixing guy, hunting /fishing/sports/house renos yes, but automotive stuff is a big no for me). I appreciate all the help, I can't diagnose the problem but at least I can take your thoughts to a mechanic and have them look into your ideas and hopefully fix the problem. Any ideas if torque converter issues are big money repairs or not too bad??? Any other thought please keep em coming , the more opinions the better. Again, THANK YOU ALL!!
