According to mod5, the cam sensor shows as in the left cylinder head towards the center of the intake manifold or in that area. The left cam sprocket shows an extra part that would be used for a sensor and the electrical shows it near the manifold tuning valve solinoid? But says, "On front of engine's timing case cover". Hope this helps. The PCM is located in front of the power distribution unit drivers side under hood. One other thought, if I may, I had a 1986 dodge 600 a long time ago that would not start. Turned out to be what chrysler used as a reluctor for ignition timing had popped the rivets that held it in position. Looked like a castlated pop can. PCM showed code as engine not cranked despite the fact that the starter turned the engine over rather well. Looking at the diagram for the 3.5l's left cam sprocket makes me wonder if it's possibly the same thing or similar. The crankshaft position sensors is described as being on the right side if tranmission housing. Haven't found a pretty picture for it yet.

yeah we changed the cam shaft sensor and not the problem, on to the crank shaft sensor when we pulled it the magnet is pretty weak on it found this all on a sat and of course no one has the sensor and chryco parts dept closed at noon so ordered it in through Napa

from what i learned from a few chryco mech's is you can scan it all you want its a circuit thing so it could be either the cam sensor, crank sensor or the PCM and the only way to tell is from a chryco dealer or a meter at the sensor to check contenuity

no compression.... bad timeing belt thought heads were done for

tore apart the front end to see what the belt looked like, when the car died we couldnt figure out what the smell was smelt like burnt clutch but obviously wasnt and didnt seem electrical well once we got the front timing covers off what a mess.... the center idler pulley for the timeing belt had disintegrated the bearings causing the belt to come loose and stop turning the cams... (why it quit suddenly) when the crank spun on the belt causing it to tear the rubber teeth off and melt alot of the belt what a mess of semi hard rubber on all the gears !! going to be a pain to clean everything... will try and get pics up if anyone cares lol

Maybe try a refrigerant to make the rubber brittle and break off, hopefully, easily.

Definately, a must see.

its back together and running got some pics but got to get them off the camera....

the burnt belt looked worse then it was on the cam gears mostly outside edge used small files got it off, the crank gear was a PITA to clean as thats where the belt sat and burnt it was a PITA to reset the timeing almost tossed a few tools lol

also the water pump must have either failed just before this or during as it was siezed up solid

these are an interferiance engine but if the motor wasnt up on rpm's generaly they wont make contact it also helped that the belt was still intact and froze the heads in the right position
