302 ho Build Carb'd

Hello everyone,

I'm thinking about having my 302 ho Carb'd engine rebuilt, currently i have it in my 88 ranger which i plan to put it back in after the rebuild.
I plan on drag racing the truck but also putting it back on the street to drive once and a while to local car shows.. So i am not looking for a Drag only build!
If anyone has any idea of how i should have it built, Compression wise, cam, crank, pistons, heads, etc..
I live in london ontario and ive heard lots of good things about bh&p So i may take it there.
but if anyone has any suggestions let me know
Thanks

hey don do you happen to no what year the block is an if its a roller motor. If your running the auto still a good e303 cam gt40 heads a air gap performer 302 intake an some shelby try y headers will really wake up your truck as well as a posi an some stick street tires for the drag days man

306, with a good set of heads e303, or x303 cam roller rockers(1.6) flat tops stay around the 10.5 comp for pump gas. rpm air gap intake and a 650-750 cfm carb. keep stock bottem end but use all arp hardware high val oil pump and ACL or KING bearings there made for nos or turbo apps so running N/A will be no problem at high rpm.

you could go with a edelbrock top end kit it will take all the guess work out of mix matching the parts and comes with all the gaskits to do the job.

a strong 306 with these mods and a 125 shot puts a full weight mustang hatch with cage in the mid 11s. just if ur building for nos get the right parts. dont cheep out.

benn your motor isnt 14:1 at most 12:1 (stock 351 is 8.5:1) we used to run 14:1 in our old NA car and we had to run 144 octane c44. $2200 for 205L

if you do a 302 11:1 (still able to run pump gas 94 octane) with an E303, performer or a cast equivalent like a gt-40 head and intake. youll make around 320-330 to the wheels if you run a stick.
