About a month or so ago my mileage decreased by about 25%. My truck has about 180,000 km on it. I replaced the plugs and the air filter and it made no difference. My next guess was an was an O2 sensor issue but then I ran across this video on calibrating the throttle body after disconnecting the battery.

I was wondering if it was something as simple as this, since I had disconnected my battery to clean the posts. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks.

Any codes?
Brake dragging?
How's the truck running overall?.
Could try the TB reset and see if it helps..and it's free 馃槉

How bad is bad?

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?
I believe the filter on the 2010 is in the tank so probably never. I'm with Northern Supercrew, check for codes

Thanks for all the input guys. It's great to have a place to ask.

No codes generated at all. No sticking brakes. No lead foot for sure lol (anyway if I had a lead foot then the gas consumption would be the same). Definitely never replaced the fuel filter.
How bad is bad? It went from 14L/100km to 19L/100km which sucks when you periodically do a lot of driving like I do.

I did the PCM reset so I guess it will take a couple of days before I see if that helped. The truck was running well but it does seem to be running smoother.

Anything to make it tough on the people who still like to work on their own stuff.
Wife is driving a Dodge Journey with 283 hp 3.6 V6, goes like stink but need to pull off intake
manifold in order to change plugs and no dipstick to check transmission fluid. Go figure. Whats dealer labour these days? $140 to $150 per hour!!

Update - the PCM reset did the trick. After about 1 1/2 tanks of gas I am back to 14L/100km. The truck is running great. Needless to say I am pleased.

No problem. It's useful information for all of us! It was such a simple fix. I didn't realize the issues that can be caused by disconnecting a battery.

I used to hate taking the cables off on my 08..the alarm would always start blaring when hooked up again..I ended up unhooking the wire to the horn 馃槀馃槀

Is there any way to reduce the mileage on a car? I think it all depends on how much you drive every day. I've heard of guys who reduce the mileage on their vehicles to sell them at a higher price. I found a great insurance agency thanks to https://joywallet.com/esurance-review/, and they help me estimate the car's value. I have become friends with some of the employees, and they share invaluable information with me for free. Usually, people who sell cars try to cheat.
