Yup...

Dale Earnhardt Jr. to leave DEI

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Dale Earnhardt Jr. will leave the company founded by his late father at the end of the year in a shake-up certain to ignite a bidding war for NASCAR's most popular driver.

He told Dale Earnhardt Inc. on Thursday that he had decided to make the switch to another team when his contract expires, intent on going to a more competitive team.

"At 32 years of age, the same age my father was when he made his final and most important career decision, it's time for me to compete on a consistent basis and contend for championships now," Earnhardt said at a news conference. "I believe I'd have my father's blessing."

Wow this is something
So what will be your guess on where he will end up
Will it be RCR?
or PR?

He could wind up anywhere. personally I'm hoping he takes over the spot of mark martin at Ginn Racing

Jim

I don't think this will happen, just because this is martins baby

martin is only running part time though. And I think if he does continue driving he will want less and less races each year

Jim

Could you imagine if he ended up in a FORD....WOW!!! LOL

You are on the right track, Ginn needs a long term driver and they are quite capable of running up front!
Either Marlin or Martin I think are gonna retire at the end of this year. Depends on how Marlin does. he is doing better in the point standings but he's also been driving a stock car for over 20 years now. i think if Junior was to sign with Ginn you could tlak 1 of the 2 senior drivers on the team to stick around long enough to help Junior with the transition

jim

Nemechek ain't ready to go yet.

Can't wait to see Biffle running the 8 car!
in his news conference though Junior did make alot of references to doing the same thing his Dad had done. I think we'll see him in the #3 next year

Junior doesn't want to run the 3, except in his twilight years.

It sounds like it will be 33
The 33 is a registered RCR number, but RCR could deal out the rights to the 3 for the rights to the 8 from TEI oops I mean DEI.:scrch:
GINN'S IN!!!!

Ginn to pursue Dale Jr. New NASCAR owner Bobby Ginn [Bobby Ginn Racing #01,#13,#14,#39] plans to pursue Dale Earnhardt Jr. - with every intent of landing him - as soon as Junior is ready to hear offers. "We would stretch as hard as we could stretch to do it," Ginn said by telephone Friday night. "You want the best, the absolute best, and I love the idea that Dale wants to win championships. He could accomplish that here with us. We're in play." Earnhardt said Friday that he wants to take a few weeks before opening the negotiating process, and NASCAR's most popular driver should have his pick of teams. Three owners - Rick Hendrick, Joe Gibbs and Richard Childress - were quickly identified as the front-runners, and Childress indicated Friday he'll be in the race. Ginn bought a midlevel team [MB2 Motorsports] last July and markedly improved it in just a few short months. Following an aggressive long-range plan, Ginn snagged Mark Martin and expanded the operation to three cars. "We have a five-year plan in mind and the conclusion is winning a championship," Ginn said. "We took a risk on Mark Martin, and that's paid off in spades for us. We aren't afraid to be aggressive." The team leases its motors from Hendrick and is perceived to be a satellite of that powerful operation. It's gotten Ginn mentioned as an outside equation in the Earnhardt race, but the team clearly wants to be a viable option.(Associated Press)(5-12-2007)
