At that price, I should buy one, tear it apart and see if the element could be put under my factory cover. OEM elements are like $50+ for each base/back. plus the switch etc.
was thinking of doing the same thing. At that price, I should buy one, tear it apart and see if the element could be put under my factory cover. OEM elements are like $50+ for each base/back. plus the switch etc.
That's a great idea.At that price, I should buy one, tear it apart and see if the element could be put under my factory cover. OEM elements are like $50+ for each base/back. plus the switch etc.
I did that on my '03, it worked beautiful (expect the damn controller from Ford was on a timer so it would only run 10 min)Hmm, I just realized my remote starter has some unused relay outputs. My 2-way remote has a trunk unlatch button which, obviously, isn't used for anything. Maybe I'll connect a relay to the output to turn on the seat heater by remote start, so the seat will be all nice and cozy when I get in.
I'll have to add that to my list of projects.
Great minds think alike.I did that on my '03, it worked beautiful (expect the damn controller from Ford was on a timer so it would only run 10 min)
Sounds like a little rewiring is in order. I tend to have to do a lot of that...In the wifes freestyle. the heater won't activate unless your sitting on it.
I've started up her car couple times last winter, turned on the seats then proceeded to clean off the snow. by the time we get back and in the seats are on.. but not warm. they start warming up when you sit on them.
Not sure if the aftermarket one warms up without sitting on it
