Hey all, just want to get some opinions.

Just starting to research this but I would like to get a new exhaust system.

I'd like to start with just a cat-back, SI/DO, exiting either straight out the rear or split out at each rear corner.

Would really love to have true duals but that would mean lots more $ and a longer wait.

After doing lots of surfing (at work *yawn*) and listening to different sound clips for the 4.2L the ones that sound the best to me are the Gibson Extreme Dual or their Split rear setup.

I'd also like to put on a set of Gibson headers but since I don't know much about that stuff are they good ones?

Also which is better, Chrome, Stainless or Ceramic headers?

Any comments/advice is welcome.

I suggest getting a custom install instead of a cat back store bought, there are a couple of good exhaust deals in London here. I could have gone dual FM40 for $300 if I stayed with stock pipe size, as far as headers go find the best set for the application. But I would hold off on the headers unless you plan to go true dual.

Thanks for the info, yeah the headers are way down the road, just wanted to try to keep the whole exhaust with one manufacturer so as to minimize any fitting issues. Where would I get the good deals here in London?

Good low buck, FM40 SIDO. My personal opinon is bring both out on right side behind tire.

If you want a top notch custom front to back,

Tobbince did my FM40 SISO on pickup and my Dual FM40 SISO with Magnaflo Cat and resonator delete on the "Black Bastard". I have sound clips of truck and car.

Thanks again, I'm leaning towards a Gibson cat back.

Yeah that does sound good. Hope my V6 sounds half that good. Looks like I'll have to wait till next year to get it done though. Gotta get that Hydrolock gasket issue solved first *sigh*, well there goes Aug's 3rd paycheck. Good idea on getting the bolt on kit welded.
