Drivers...throw a helmet, get $15k? TMS president Eddie Gossage said ticket sales for the Sprint Cup Samsung 500 on April 6 have been flat since Jan. 1, then made an announcement he hopes will increase the buzz. "I'm offering $15,000 to any driver who throws their helmet between now and the Samsung 500," Gossage said. The conditions: the helmet must be tossed in anger on the "field of competition," according to Gossage. And Gossage gets the helmet for his extensive office collection. While he acknowledged it was a tongue-in-cheek offer, he said he would definitely pay. NASCAR officials did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
