Are Upconverting dvd players worth it or not? Anybody got one?? Those it truely give you that HD feel? I have a LCD 42" 1080P TV.

No its not HD DVD or Blueray but its much better than DVD
I have one connected to my PJ and it makes a huge difference

I'm waiting for HD dvd vs Blueray war to end before I go to the next format

Well right now it's on 1080i.

so when you switch to 480i you should see decrease in picture quality, are you using HDMI?

Yes im using HDMI. I got the Elite one it came with it.

So did you try a switch 480i to 720p or 1080i
ps3 outputs 1080p and its a blue ray player
The best movie to test this on is The Fifth Element, there is some great high contrast seen on there

Maybe my eyes are just stupid but I don't see a difference. Like I see a difference between BluRay and HD in the stores but I don't see the differents with a Upconverting player. I guess I'll wait till the war is done and if it's Bluray that wins I'll have a excuse too give to the wife to buy a PS3.
