Hey all,
Well I skipped the truck show in London this weekend because I went to Cayuga for the V6 Ford Challenge bracket racing.
First, let me just say that yes I did win the class runner up trophy :t-up: but thats hot as impressive as it sounds. The guy who set it all up was expecting at least 12-20 cars but I guess with the weather most never showed up, which is a shame because he spent about $200 of his own money to make trophies, powder coated V6 pistons w/rods, really cool.
So as it turned out there were only, cue the laughter, 3 of us.We told him since there was only 3 of us lets just have fun and forget the trophies, not sure if the track promoter was giving prize money, prolly would if there had been more of us.But he said "Hey you guys took the time to show up so its only fair you get something for it."
A late 90's supercharged v6 stang, a SHO taurus, forget the year and me :club:
There was another class that was somewhat close to us, the All Ford bracket..as long as it was a ford you could run, mostly stangs, a cougar, an F350 dually and an 11s Lighting.
Anyway it was a great day except for the off/on/off rain, tons of cars, best time of the day was 6.48s @ 225 I think.
I was going to post pics of my timeslips but I cant get the camera to take a clear enough shot.
We did 3 rds of qualifying, then elinations.
Now you are prolly wondering how the hell did a stock truck get to the final.
Simple, the timing lights screwed up for the SHO taurus. I think partly my fault cuz I didn't know I should have just pre-staged, then waited for him to pre-stage, but I just did what I normally do, I fully staged. For some reason his pre-stage lights never came on, just the full stage so he thought he had gone to far and he backed up to re-stage but the starter tripped the lights anyway so when I saw green I left. they dq'ed him in the spot. I felt bad for getting the win that way but nothing I could do. I was running times all over the place, from 18.4 to a couple 18.02s. My first dial in I chose 18.02 and ran 18.2 but that was the run the SHO got dq'ed.
For the final, I didnt think the truck had another .02 run left cuz it was feeling sluggish at the start so I changed to an 18.10s dial in...whoops..:club: both me and the stang busted-out. I went 18.024 and he went sub 14s but is dial in was 14.00 so he got the win cuz he busted out closer to his dial in, but I dont care it was fun. I thought about lifting just before the lights but I think the adreline got to me cuz when I saw him coming in the mirror I just kept my foot in it :club:
I cant wait till next year, if its held close to here I'll go. Maybe someone else from here can go too if ya got a V6. I suppose Smoke could disconnect 2 plug wires and run with us :lgh2:
Anyway it was a great time. I'll try to post the pics of the hardware I won but I haven't had much luck with that so if that fails I'll just post the links.
